The Healthy Have No Need of a Doctor

What can you say to a truly happy person? What can you say to one who is content? What can you say to someone who has it together socially, who has a successful career and a happy family?

Ultimately, we all need something to hold on to

We all need a purpose in life-a reason to get up in the morning

We need something that drives us-that motivates us. We all chase some goal that we aspire to achieve. Many times the satisfaction that comes with achieving our goals is short lived and then off we go again chasing after our next fix. Many times even the big goals we have achieved end up becoming mundane routine.

I’ve spoken to and read about many people who seem to have it all and yet they speak about a void in their heart which troubles their mind and their body-a void which just won’t go away and will not be satisfied.

If you feel this void now please read on. If you are satisfied in your life at the moment but have felt this void in the past and are concerned that the void might return, please read on.

Jesus came to heal and to save the sick “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I (Jesus) came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”Mark 2:17

Are there really people who do not suffer? Suffering is a human condition. According to the Bible suffering and pain entered as a consequence of original sin at which time the whole of creation was cursed.

Genesis 3:17-19 (NASB)

17 Then to Adam He said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat from it’; Cursed is the ground because of you; In toil you will eat of it All the days of your life.

18 “Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you; And you will eat the plants of the field;

19 By the sweat of your face You will eat bread, Till you return to the ground, Because from it you were taken; For you are dust, And to dust you shall return.”

Whatever you believe the cause for all the suffering is,

suffering no doubt exists

People who are in pain and who admit it—even if just to themselves, seek relief from suffering, depression, guilt and pain in various ways: exercise, meditation, religion, endless relationships and even destructive habits and behaviour.

Some people self-medicate using drugs and alcohol and other substances. They consequently develop addiction which leads to substance abuse and more depression. They then need help through support groups to overcome addiction and therapy which many times involves prescription medication.

Many times all this ends up becoming a painful endless circle with no end in sight.

It’s sad to see people suffering while continuing to reject

God’s gift of love, peace and saving grace

From my experience, I can testify that nothing I tried from age twelve until I met Jesus at age twenty five had any long term success in relieving my suffering. Nothing convinced me. Nothing captured me, my loyalty, my trust, my heart, my devotion.

If you, like myself, have tried many different methods to heal your pain and have discovered the hard way that all these paths have only led to temporary relief and satisfaction, just consider calling out to Jesus and ask Him to come into your heart and be with you forever.

If you are in pain. If you seek a higher truth

that you can absolutely trust and believe in, call on Jesus

Speak to God in private. Call on him in your own words. Express your pain, your sorrow, your fear. Turn to him and ask him to give you rest, peace and hope for the future.

Take that step. You may be surprised. I experienced an amazing rebirth in 1998 and my life changed. You will be filled with the Spirit and you will be born again in newness of life.

Call on Jesus and pour out your heart to Him as you would pour out your heart to your best friend. Be honest. Be true. Surrender your pain and your suffering to Jesus and He will certainly give you rest.

Call on Jesus and be born again in newness of life.

Jesus said I am the Truth the Way and the Life. And no one comes to the Father but through me

Jesus is the bread of life and whoever comes to Him will never hunger

Jesus is the giver of living water and you will never thirst

when you drink the living water that He gives

John 6:35 (NASB)

35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.

He is the resurrection and the life. The Good Shepherd who leads you to green pastures. (Psalm 23 / John 10:11)

John 11:25 (NASB)

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies,

In the privacy of your heart call on Jesus and He will save you and be with you forever. You will be born again and filled with the Spirit of God, the Comforter.

Matthew 11:28-29

28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.

I believe in the resurrection of the body and in eternal life

There is a force that created everything that exists outside of time

I’m not a religious person. In fact I’m extremely anti-religious and anti-religion

I believe in the God of the Old and New Testament

and in the Bible’s central message of

forgiveness, new birth and eternal life

Jesus died on the cross as a sacrifice for us

to be brought back into friendship with God

He did this for you too

This is not to say that you will always be happy and relaxed. We still live in this world and are influenced by our environment. We obviously still get tired and hungry. We get sick. We feel down at times and even depressed.

However, when you’re in love there is an internal peace and joy that reassures you that all is well and Jesus will give you rest and hope.

The peace that Jesus gives is unlike anything I had ever experienced before I fell in love with Him. Jesus’ peace, love and joy surpass all understanding.

Even in times of trouble in the world and in the body your closeness to Jesus will grant you internal peace, joy and love that will fill your heart and mind, envelop your body and saturate your whole being.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NASB)

6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

When you are born again by the Spirit of God, you are resurrected spiritually and the Spirit of God comes and dwells inside you. You are a new creation. Even though your body grows old day by day the new You is being renewed day by day.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NASB)

17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

2 Corinthians 4:16 (NASB)

16 Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.

Come to Jesus and call on Him to give you rest. Ask Him to come into your life-into your heart. He died for you on the cross to forgive you your sins-past, present and future. He conquered death and rose in power and glory to give us the hope of the resurrection and eternal life and He is seated at the right hand of the Father so that through Him we can access the Father.

Call on Jesus from your heart and be born again in newness of life. He is calling you to have an intimate relationship with Him. He loves you and He will give you rest. I am not talking about religion. I am talking about a personal, living relationship.

Revelation 3:20 (NASB)

20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.
